Holy Cross School History

The congregation of The Sisters of Mercy of The Holy Cross was founded in Switzerland in 1856.The sisters reached India in the year 1894 to take up various apostolates.The Holy Cross Sisters were invited by the people of the tea estates to establish and run an English Medium School at Devarshola, Nilgiris.Thus the Holy Cross Convent Matriculation Hr. Sec. School was begun 1983 and is recognised by the Govt. of Tamilnadu.

The school aims at developing the entire child.Top priority is given to character building on sound moral principles.The boys and girls leaving the school will have developed a sense of responsibility and sound character and attained emotional and intellectual maturity.The motto of the school is ‘LOVE IS SERVICE’.

Moving ahead with our motto, the school opens new horizons in creating vibrant, proactive and patriotic citizens for India.The management foresees a bright future for this school and the people of this area. With hardwork, determination and confidence along with good leadership the school will take a definite shape and blossom with new vistas.
A steady growth in the admission every year reveals the true vission of our institution here. We have a total strength of 1623 students on the roll with 48 teaching staff, 4 administrative staff and 12 co - workers.
